Non-existing and not helpful customer service.
I waited for 3 hours in a queue to get to customer service rep to receive no help at all - the rep told me to contact helpdesk to sort out my issue. Isn't it the helpdesk? ETS is a joke.
And, by the way, I can't make a payment for the TOEFL exam...
Wish I could give no stars. I have had my ETS account for about two years now since I had to take the Praxis to get into my grad program. I have one more test to take, and I signed up and paid for it under my existing account. Since I first created my account, I got married and my name changed. Within minutes, I saw where it said that I would have to create a whole new account with my new name. I immediately cancelled the test under my old name and created a new account with my new name. In the cancellation email, I saw that it said I would only receive a 50% refund from cancelling the test. I called and spoke with a representative as well as a supervisor, and they told me that there was nothing they could do. I asked what exactly I was paying for then and where the other half of my money is going. She said it's to hold my spot, and that when I take that spot and cancel, in so many words, they are losing business because someone else COULD HAVE signed up for that spot. Well ME, THE SAME PERSON, signed up for THE SAME TEST, DAY, TIME, only under my NEW name. The cancellation was done in literally minutes. I understand having a cancellation policy, but this is not for another MONTH. I know with 100 percent certainty that I didn't cause them to lose out on any business. Ok sure, "it's their policy," but the policy NEEDS TO CHANGE. Maybe if I were to cancel a week before, sure, refund me 50%. But OVER a MONTH away?? It's unacceptable. We have literally no other options to take these tests, and these people are taking major advantage of STUDENTS. And BECAUSE we have no other options, I'm sure this will do no good since people don't have the choice between this horrid company and ANYWERE else. It's disgusting and they should be ashamed. Not that my sob story matters, but they are raking in money left and right over outrageous testing fees, while I am working two days a week, barely getting paid because I am student teaching most days in order to graduate and get my Master's degree in Education.

Being in contact with the customer service ist just frustrating because they DO NOT UNDERSTAND the problem and keep sending the exact same answers which do not help in any way!
I was supposed to sit for my GRE exam in March. The day before exam, I ran through all the checklist again just to make everything is going to be okay on the exam date. This includes the system check provided by ETS. Then on the exam day, I sat for an hour since I had issues with the technical provider system (not ETS) as it has further check down the route. And after chatting with the customer service of the technical provider, they say it is something to do with my hardware, therefore making it impossible for me to sit for the exam unless I change my hardware (I'm a broke uni student)
The issue starts here, I asked for a refund since there is no solution to this issue. I first contacted in March, waited until April, then contacted again in April just to get reply saying they will ask another team to review my situation. And now it's May, I asked them again and the answer is the same. The amount might not be significant for some people, but to me that amount could explain whether I'm going to survive for the month or not. And the way they handling the situation is not helping either.
It's a poor that GRE only can be taken from this company. Otherwise, please find other provider. We really need no inefficient company in this climate. At least, not a kind of company that is benefited from contract like ETS.
Alerts scam. I was supposed to take my TOEFL exam at home and unfortunately there was a technical problem from their side. The exam was interrupted during the speaking section and we spent two hours trying to fix the issue. Then the technician asked me to reschedule my exam. I have been waiting for two weeks without any reply from their side to my emails. They do not even care that students have deadlines and they are playing with their future. I'm so disappointed how this administration treats its customers. No care and no respect.
My online GRE was cancelled without any explanation. Trying to get in touch with a customer service representative is proving to be a very very frustrating experience. On numerous occasions I have gotten through to an actual person, then they transfer me over to a different person who sends my call to voicemail. If there was a competitor maybe they would try at least a little bit to be responsive. As it is now, I have not seen any evidence that they care to resolve my case. It sort of feels like they are preying on me so that I will have to pay the $205 fee to reschedule my test. I truly did nothing wrong and sorting out this issue has been a gargantuan waste of my time. If you are a company with no competitors I think you owe it to your captive audience to at least do right by them. Not in the slightest.
Unfortunately, I was also scammed by the ETS. Not only was I not able to get a refund, but they had also blocked my account after I requested a refund through my bank. To be specific, they had burdened my ETS account with a negative balance that they are requesting payment for. I am completely unable to access my scores for other tests that I have taken or purchase any services due to this negative balance. I felt responsible to warn everyone else that requesting a refund through an intermediary might only result in their retaliation. I am wondering if anyone has reported them to the US Federal Trade Commission on their website reportfraud.ftc.gov and if that helped their case in any way. Regardless, I would strongly encourage everyone affected to report them to every possible competent authority.
No one respond to it email, complain, question, anything.

My home edition toefl was cancelled with no reason clarification.
I sent emails to reschedule my exam or to be refunded with no answer.
Very poor service and their customer service is horrible. They just hold the score and tell us to call back after 2 to 3 weeks, till now I have not received my score and no updates from their side. I mailed them N no of times and didn't get any reply. Very frustrating with ETS. Please requesting all universities to not consider the ETS as their vendors for competitive exams like GRE and TOEFL. They are playing with students.
This is the worst company for testing. They just want money and more money, they do not care about the people who just want to study and have a better future.
I wish I read some of this before I actually wasted my time and money on them. Just add me up to list of victims of this viscous business.
So, with that being said, I won't waste more time on details of how terrible they were with me, not even as a customer to their business, but as a human being that should have been treated with some respect or common decency than what they did to me.
I already wasted more than two months, more then couple of hundreds dollars, and more importantly my chance for a better career and life to try applying for a university that had them as one of the requirements of the application which of course I missed its deadlines just because of the incompetency of this ETS. This is why if there is anyone from ETS would like to respond to this complaint/review of mine here, I would be more than happy to provide my contact information, before I sue them in Small Claims Court.
Please don't do my mistake and stay away from this ETS by any mean possible, even if you have to work as a janitor.
Shockingly bad. I would be extremely careful operating with this company. Especially, before you pay for anything. Their refund policy and customer aftercare service is beyond terrible. Terrible company. Products are way overpriced. Awful customer service.
I am sorry, but I have been seriously tested for COVID last month and had a sick leave and was not able to get any refund for my not completed test I could not attend due to this. I have provided them with proves of my tests and Hospital Sick Leave form, but was not good enough to them. There was no understanding to the fact, that hospitals on Friday in Saudi Arabia do not provide detailed report on Emergency Unit and also, that there is nothing like General doctor in this country. Also, COVID tests go through Apps and App result is the only way of proving that you went for test and its result. No compassion or understanding. I get it ppl fake their medical leaves to not got for test, but if I already provided what I could, they act like they do not have enough money to just postpone it for me or to refund it on the credit, so I can use this money again for few weeks later, once I am well again.
The lack of care from this organization led me to do the test with IELTS, coz their approach was better.
I would not recommend it! The customer service is non existent, I tried to reschedule my appointment due to illness and contacted them several times with my sick notification from a german hospital. I am under huge time pressure as i have only 5 days left to take the test. They replied my sick note is not valid because it is in another language (german). What do they expect?? Where should I get an english certification when i am actually in Germany! The customer service is absolutely trash! Nobody will help you, even if you contact more than 5 different contacts. I do not recommend!
